News & Notes: Street Meet & Carrie Tollefson

A couple track and field news items stuck out today that I think would be wise to touch on. First, Olympian Brendan Foster put together a four year agreement between England and Australia, to bring together nearly 40 athletes from each country to compete in an annual street meet. The events will take place in downtown centers, on the street, with a variety of exciting events taking place. I've discussed this idea before and am glad someone is doing it. Hopefully a meet director or two will try this in the U.S. as well.

Another news item worth mentioning is an interview Pete Gambaccini did with Carrie Tollefson in today's Runner's World Brief Chat. Pete asked a variety of questions and Carrie answered all of them with her honest and sparkling insights. Carrie touched upon a variety of topics, including her injuries, her comeback and Team USA Minnesota. This is a must read.
