I Can't Wait for the Men's 5k Final

Yesterday's men's 5,000m prelims were great. Matt Tegenkamp and Chris Solinsky are beasts, running tactical races and putting themselves in great position to advance to the final. Same goes for Bernard Lagat. Evan Jager didn't advance, but the 20-year old phenom earned valuable experience and will come up big in 2011.

So, I wait now until Saturday, when the 5k final takes place and I can finally watch three American men in the race, all able to mix it up at points, and hopes that we'll see at least one of them bring home a medal.

Here's a great interview with Matt Tegenkamp after his 5k prelim. The last 40 seconds are my favorite where he talks about mixing it up with the best and taking American distance running to the next level. GO USA!!!

I agree with you. Teg looks strong and think he can kick with the big boys. I hope that Lagat can push through the pain and help the US bring 2 medals home. Not sure if Solinsky can kick with the big boys yet, even though he looked great finishing in Eugene.
